About Amed Beach

Amed Beach sits along Bali’s quiet northeastern coast and is one of the island’s best spots for diving and snorkeling. The coastline stretches past a string of small fishing villages, where black volcanic sand meets some of the clearest water you’ll find in Bali. Beneath the surface, the marine life is colourful, calm, and surprisingly close to shore.

What really draws people to Amed is what’s underwater. Just nearby in Tulamben is the famous Liberty Wreck, while along the coast you’ll find healthy coral gardens, steep drop-offs, and plenty of tropical fish. The water here is usually calm, making it great for first-time snorkelers, but there’s still plenty to keep experienced divers excited.

Above the water, Amed has managed to keep its traditional charm. Locals still harvest salt by hand, wooden jukung boats line the beach, and fishing remains a way of life that’s been passed down for generations. It feels far removed from the busy, built-up beaches in the south of the island.

With Mount Agung rising in the background, clear water below, and an easygoing village vibe, Amed is the kind of place that invites you to slow down — whether you’re exploring the reef or simply watching the sunrise from the shore.
